Obion County Central High School Band Boosters Club CONSTITUTION ARTICLE I- NAME The name of the organization shall be Obion County Central High School Band Boosters Club. ARTICLE II- PURPOSE The purpose of the Obion County Central High School Band Boosters Club is to promote, encourage, and perpetuate the high school's instrumental musical arts program. The OCCHS Band Boosters Club shall not be used to further any commercial purpose, nor shall it promote, advance, support, or engage in any commercial activities or enterprises. The Band Boosters Club shall exist solely to support the OCCHS band director and his or her staff in the development and perpetuation of a music program and curriculum that will reflect positively upon the band, its leadership, the school, and the community. ARTICLE III- MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS Those eligible for membership in the OCCHS Band Boosters Club shall include (a) parents, guardians, and grandparents of those Obion County Central High School students who participate, study, and perform in instrumental musical arts program at OCCHS; (b) parents and grandparents of students who belong to any of the Obion County elementary school bands; (c) OCCHS Band alumni; (d) parents and grandparents of OCCHS Band alumni; (e) and interested members of the community. Only those Band Boosters Club members who are parents or guardians of currently, enrolled OCCHS students who participate, study, and perform in the instrumental musical arts program at OCCHS may hold elected office or vote on issues before the membership. ARTICLE IV- OFFICES AND ELECTION PROCEDURE The OCCHS Band Boosters Club offices that shall be filled by election are president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. A parliamentarian may be elected. These officers shall be elected annually by a majority of the voting membership present at the regular April meeting. Those elected shall be installed in the offices to which they were elected at the May meeting of the membership. All Band Booster Club officers shall serve a term of one (1) year. No officer may serve more than three (3) consecutive terms in the same office. Should the office of president be vacated, the vice president shall be appointed president. Other vacancies that occur during a term of office shall be filled by election. Such elections may be held during any meeting of the membership. ARTICLE V- EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE The executive committee shall direct the Club's operations in accordance with the will of the membership. The members of the executive committee shall be the elected officers, the immediate past-president, the band director or a member of his or her staff, and the chairpersons of the Club's standing committees. ARTICLE VI -MEETINGS The OCCHS Band Boosters Club shall meet monthly. At least eight of these meetings shall be regular meetings. The Club shall hold an annual meeting. ARTICLE VII -AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION Amendments to the constitution shall require a two-thirds vote of the voting members present at a regular or special meeting of the membership. Previous written notice of the proposed amendment(s) must be given to the members at a regular meeting of the membership at least three months prior to the meeting at which the vote is taken on the amendment(s ). ARTICLE VI11- DISSOLUTION Dissolution of the OCCHS Band Boosters Club organization shall require a two- thirds vote of the voting members present at a regular or special meeting of the membership. Previous written notice of the proposed dissolution must be given to the members at a regular meeting at least three months prior to the meeting at which the vote is taken on dissolution. Upon dissolution, any and all property of the Band Boosters Club shall become the sole property of the Obion County Central High School Band. |
